A Jesup man was sentenced Tuesday to seven years in prison after pleading guilty to sexual abuse charges.

The Buchanan County Attorney's office says 49-year-old Todd Caldwell plead guilty to one count of assault with intent to commit sexual abuse resulting in bodily injury and one count of indecent contact with a child.

The charges involved two children under the age of 12.

Caldwell received five years in prison for the assault charge and two years for the charge of indecent contact.

In addition to prison time, Caldwell will have to register as a sex offender and will serve 10 years of supervision by the Iowa Department of Correctional Services.
