Cyclones arrive in snowy Memphis

MEMPHIS (KWWL) -

The Iowa State Cyclones left the cold and snow of Iowa, flew south, and landed in the cold and snow of Memphis, Tennessee.

A winter storm during the week left the white powdered stuff on the ground as Iowa State arrived for Liberty Bowl preparations.  Their practice field had to be cleared off prior to their first run-through on Wednesday afternoon.

The day's high temperature of 35 was about 15 degrees below normal.  The players, however, don't expect the cold conditions to have any effect on their preparations for game day.

"I guess we're kind of used to this weather, said senior receiver Josh Lenz, "I think it was actually a little warmer in New York last year.  It's good to be down here, and the weather won't affect us too much."

"I guess they said a snowstorm came through I think it was yesterday or something like that," said senior kick holder Brett Bueker, "but yeah, it's like we're at home with all the snow."

The Cyclones are getting ready for a re-match with a Tulsa team they beat 38-23 to open the season.  Kickoff is set for 2:30 PM on New Year's Eve.
