Black Hawks' Newell released from hospital

IOWA CITY (KWWL) -

Waterloo Black Hawk Victor Newell was released from the hospital on Thursday after sustaining injuries in a one vehicle accident Monday night.  He had been treated at University Hospitals in Iowa City.

Newell reportedly suffered a fractured eye socket, but no damage to the eye itself.  A CAT scan also revealed no internal injuries.

The first year defenseman is expected to recover fully.  The Black Hawks are unsure, however, as to when he'll be able to get back on the ice and return to the line-up.

Newell, 19, was traded to Waterloo from Omaha in October.
