PREVIOUS: Schlitter found guilty of involuntary manslaughter

A Linn County jury has found a Cedar Rapids man guilty of involuntary manslaughter and child endangerment resulting in death for killing his 18-month-old daughter.

Zyriah Schlitter faces up to 5 years in prison on the involuntary manslaughter conviction and up to 50 years in prison for the child endangerment charge.

Schlitter faced charges relating to his daughter Kamyrn's death in 2010.

In his defense, Schlitter said he attributed marks on her face to normal bumps and bruises that an active child sustainers.

Schlitter testified he never suspected his ex-girlfriend Amy Parmer of doing his daughter any harm.

Parmer is facing trial on first-degree murder and child endangerment charges in January.

Schlitter was also facing first-degree murder charges but the jury found him guilty of a lesser charge.
