Iowa State holds on to beat UNI 67-59

Northern Iowa fought in-state rival Iowa State until the very end.

In spite of a miserable shooting night and being shorthanded due to injuries, the young Panthers gave Iowa State everything it could handle before falling 67-59 Monday at the McLeod Center.

Jacqui Kalin paced the way for the Panthers wit 19 points.  Jen Keitel had 10 points and 12 rebounds.

Iowa State jumped to a 13 point lead halftime lead after the Panthers shot just 19 percent in the first half.  Hallie Christofferson (21 pts, 10 reb) and Chelsea Poppins (14 pts, 10 reb) were part of a 12-1 run in the first half that opened the game wide open.

UNI cut the lead to five in the second half, but never got any closer.

Keitel had 10 points and 12 rebounds for the Panthers, who made 11 threes in the game.
