DUBUQUE (KWWL) -

An outpouring of love is coming from members of the Dubuque community to victims of the Friday morning school shooting at a Newtown, Conn. elementary school.

Trappist Caskets in Dubuque County received a call Friday from a Texas woman who had recently bought a casket for her own child. Sam Mulgrew, Trappist Caskets general manager, said the woman's two-year-old died of cancer.

The woman offered to donate caskets to all the victims of Friday morning's shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School.

Mulgrew said he'd spread the word and see if anybody else would like to chip in, since the total cost could be around $16,000.

The Wahlert Foundation in Dubuque, along with other Dubuque organizations and individuals, are now chipping in with the Texas woman to offer the caskets or urns to all of the victims.

Trappist Caskets is owned and operated by the monks of New Melleray Abbey in Dubuque County. Mulgrew said Abbot Brendan Freeman at the abbey left a message with monsignor Robert Weiss of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Parish in Newtown, Conn. to formally extend the offer to the victims' family members.

Trappist Caskets is also the company donating an urn and a casket, respectively, for Evansdale cousins Lyric Cook and Elizabeth Collins.

The company also donated a casket for the nine-year-old girl who died in the Tucson, Arizona, shooting attempt on then-Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords' life.
