Former Light Plant general manager faces criminal charges

The formal general manager of The New Hampton Municipal Light Plant now faces criminal charges.

An audit alleges Brian Geschke improperly used money while he was general manager of the plant.

Geschke is charged with two counts of theft and one count of ongoing criminal conduct.

Brian Quirk replaced Geschke after resigning from a seat in the Iowa legislature to take the job.

Independent Greg Clark, who Quirk defeated in the election in November, plans to run in the special election next month.

Dennis Litterar has also announced his candidacy.
