CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) -
The UNI Panthers will play the Iowa Hawkeyes in the first game of the inaugural Big 4 Men's Basketball classic this Saturday at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines. Organizers say the event is nearing a sellout with about 3,000 tickets remaining.
Both the Hawks and Panthers are coming off big victories. Iowa beat Iowa state last Friday night.
While UNI snapped George Mason's 14 game home winning streak with a big road victory in overtime on Saturday night.
This will be the first time in sixteen years that UNI will not play both Iowa and Iowa state in the same season, but Panther head coach Ben Jacobson says he's excited about Saturday's big 4 classic.
The Panthers and Hawkeyes will tip it off at 1:30 Saturday afternoon-- and Drake and Iowa state will follow at 4 pm.
