Waterloo West High holds mini-dance marathon

An area high school danced the night away for a good cause.

Saturday, Waterloo West High School hosted a dance marathon honoring Keegan O'Brien.

Keegan is two years old and has had heart issues from birth.

He is now healthy and his parents say it's thanks to treatment at the UI Children's Hospital in Iowa City.

About 100 students from West High danced, sang and played laser tag - all while raising money to help other kids like Keegan.

"My favorite part is watching all the students come together for a really good cause and having a great time. Just seeing the impact that they are able to have on the children at the hospital, it's just really fun," said Heather Wagner, West High teacher.

West High teamed up with the University of Northern Iowa for this year's dance marathon.

After money is collected from several eastern Iowa schools, UNI will send one big check to the University of Iowa Children's Hospital in Iowa City.
