UNI hands George Mason first home loss this season

Posted:

Marc Sonnen led the way as UNI picked up a big overtime road win 82-77 at George Mason.  The Patriots' loss was their first at home this season.

Sonnen scored all of his team high 21 points by hitting 7 3-pointers in the ball game.  Anthony James scored 19, while Seth Tuttle added 18 in the UNI victory.

The Panthers had an opportunity to win the game in regulation.  Tied at 69, James drove the floor in under 4 seconds, but a tough scoop shot near the basket just rimmed out sending the game to overtime.

James scored 5 points in the overtime, while UNI hit all 8 of their free throw attempts to hang on in the end.  The Panther win snapped GMU's 14-game home court winning streak, which was the 9th longest active streak in the nation.
