Texas A&M's Manziel wins Heisman

Posted:

Johnny Football can now change his nickname to Johnny Heisman.  Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel made history Saturday night becoming the first freshman to ever win the Heisman Memorial Trophy.

Manziel beat out Notre Dame's Manti Te'o and Kansas State quarterback Collin Klein who finished 2nd and 3rd in the voting respectively.

The Aggie freshman set a new SEC record this season with 4,600 total yards.  He also engineered A&M's huge upset win over then #1 Alabama.

Oklahoma's Adrian Petersen was the player who previously came the closest to winning the award as a freshman.  Petersen finished second in the voting in 2004.
