St. Paul's Lutheran School students sing for their school

Sixth graders at St. Paul's Lutheran School in Waverly are just some of the students featured on a new CD.

"The sixth graders sang two by themselves, and we had three with the whole school," said sixth grader Finley Alexander.

The CD, called Sing Along with St. Paul's School, is set to be available around December 14th.

It features 20 songs, typically sung at the school and St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

About a year ago, some parents thought it would be nice to record the songs on a CD so people could listen at home. That idea is now a fundraiser for the school.

"It is a fundraiser, but our main goal is just to share the music of the kids. We have a lot of talented kids here, and it's not something they might ever get to do again," said Lisa Alexander.

The students even got to record some songs with composer John Ylvisaker who's best known for the hymn "I Was There to Hear Your Borning Cry." He's a congregation member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

"It was really fun," said student Finley Alexander.

The students recorded the music live back in October.

While the CD is getting released just in time for Christmas, there are NO Christmas songs featured.

"The kids singing these songs, they did an amazing job. We couldn't have imagined it coming out as well as it did. It's just a great CD to listen to," said Lisa Alexander.

The students with St. Paul's School hope community members enjoy listening to the music as much as they enjoy singing it.

The CD will be available at the office at St. Paul's Lutheran School in Waverly. You can also pre-order a copy by click here.
