WATERLOO (KWWL) -

The Waterloo Black Hawks honored Elizabeth Collins and Lyric Cook with a "Pink Out" at Friday night's hockey game.

Elizabeth was 8-years-old and Lyric was 10-years-old when the girls were last seen in Evansdale on Friday, July 13.

Hunters found the remains of two bodies believed to be the girls on Dec. 5.

The Black Hawks asked fans to wear pink to the game Friday against the Indiana Ice.

The "Pink Out" was originally planned to help raise awareness for the Evansdale girls.

"Plans changed with the developments this week, but people close to the family said they still wanted us to proceed with it in memory of Lyric and Elizabeth," said Tim Harwood, a spokesman for the Waterloo Black Hawks.

Starting tonight, players will wear a commemorative Lyric and Elizabeth sticker on their helmets for the rest of the season.

"The players have been on the roller coaster ride since the girls disappeared," said President of the Black Hawks Doug Miller. "They have an emotional attachment to them just as most people do in the Cedar Valley."

The first one-thousand fans at Friday night's game received a bracelet with in memory of the Evansdale girls.

For many, the bracelet was an accessory to their pink apparel.

"I went through and dug through all my stuff and found as much pink as possible," said Tina Bently, a Black Hawks fan from Shell Rock.

Bently and her mother are season ticket holders. They said they wouldn't have missed Friday's game for anything.

"This was our way of supporting their memory," she said.

The arena paused for a moment of silence before the opening face-off Friday.

"I can only think they would have loved it," said Sara Kipp, a family friend. "To mix the hockey aspect that they all love and the families are such a big part of...it's just really special."
