A man was taken to the hospital Wednesday after being hit by a car in Cedar Falls.
It happened at the intersection of Highway 58 and Viking Road, near the busy shopping area that includes Walmart, Target, and Blain's Farm and Fleet.
Officers found 63-year-old Sham Laxman lying in the southbound lanes of the highway when they arrived on the scene. They say Laxman was walking across the southwest portion of the intersection when he was struck by a southbound vehicle. The vehicle had been stopped for a red light and was accelerating when Laxman crossed in front of the vehicle.
Laxman was transported to Covenant Medical Center. His injuries are unknown.
Police say the driver of the car is 27-year-old Amber Nielsen of Washburn. She wasn't hurt.
