Shop with a Santa cop in Cedar Rapids

The holidays will be a bit happier for some kids thanks to the Cedar Rapids Police Department.

Wednesday was the annual Shop with a Santa Cop event.

Officers helped more than 100 kids pick out new winter gear, clothes, and toys.

"It really tugs at our officers," said Cristy Hamblin, Cedar Rapids Police Sergeant.  "We're human just like everybody else and we want to be able to help as well."

The Cedar Rapids Police host two Shop with a Cop events each year.

The other happens in summer---when kids get their school supplies.
