WOODBURY COUNTY (KWWL) -
A plane crash in western Iowa has killed two people and injured the pilot. It happened 2 1/2 miles south of Correctionville.
The Iowa State Patrol says the small privately-owned plane came down onto Highway 31 around 8 o'clock Saturday night.
Three people were on the plane, according to authorities.
Both passengers died and the pilot suffered major injuries. The pilot was supposed to be life-flighted to a Sioux City hospital but because of the dense fog, had to be taken by ambulance.
Also, an ambulance responding to the scene hit a deputy's vehicle.
Dense fog is being blamed for both crashes. Highway 31 has been shut down.
Authorities expect to release more information, including the victims' identities on Sunday.
