Nebraska sweeps UNI in 2nd round NCAA Volleyball


The University of Northern Iowa volleyball team fell to the No. 4 Nebraska Cornhuskers 3-0 in the second round of the NCAA Tournament on Lincoln, Nebraska, on Friday night. This was the final match ever to be played at the historic NU Coliseum.

Macy Ubben led the Panthers with 8 kills and had a .318 attack percentage. Molly Turk had 29 assists, and Candice Burke recorded 11 digs for the Panthers.
UNI started off strong in the first set. The Panthers jumped out to an early 5-3 lead over the Huskers. Kills by Amy Braun and Macy Ubben helped the Panthers go on a 4-1 run to increase their lead to 9-5 at the first timeout of the set. Nebraska slowly started to creep back and eventually tied the set up at 16-16. A kill by Megan Lehman gave UNI the 17-16 lead, but a Nebraska kill in the next play tied it up at 17-17. An attack error by UNI gave the Huskers the 18-17 lead, their first lead of the set. Nebraska increased its lead to 20-17, and even though UNI brought the score to within one at 21-20, the Panthers could not catch back up. Nebraska won the set 25-21.
