Special election set for unexpected open Iowa House seat

A special election date has been set to fill the vacancy in a northern Iowa House seat left open when a lawmaker resigned.

Voters in Floyd, Chickasaw and Cerro Gordo counties will go to the polls on January 22 to decide who will take representative Brian Quirk's vacant seat.

Quirk won the general election, but resigned his position immediately.
