Federal funds to Black Hawk County food and shelter programs


Black Hawk County is getting more than $42,000 for emergency food and shelter programs.

The money comes from federal funds awarded through the Department of Homeland Security and FEMA under the national Emergency Food and Shelter Program.

$42,450 will help supplement emergency food and shelter programs in the county.

A local EFSP Board will meet Friday, December 14, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at the INRCOG office, 229 East Park Ave., Waterloo, Iowa, to distribute the funds awarded to Black Hawk County.

Public or private voluntary agencies in Black Hawk County interested in applying for Emergency Food and Shelter Program funds must contact Sheri Alldredge, Iowa Northland Regional Council of Governments, at (319) 235-0311 for an application. The deadline for applications to be received is Tuesday, December 11, 2012.
