Grinnell's Jack Taylor reflects on 138 point outburst

Grinnell College, a small liberal arts school in central Iowa, is now in the spotlight after the likes of a performance never seen before in college basketball history.

Sophomore Jack Taylor exploded for 138 points in a single game, shattering the old record set nearly 60 years ago of 113 points.

"It feels like I'm almost living in a different world than yesterday, trying to take it all in stride and trying to be humble about it," Taylor said a day later.

Teammates, coaches, and fans could only watch in amazement, as Taylor shot his way into the NCAA record books Tuesday night.

"The fans were losing control, the bench was losing control.  I was just sitting back and enjoying the moment because I don't think I'm every going to see a shooting performance like that again," said Grinnell head coach David Arseneault.

Mired in a shooting slump, Arseneault made it a game plan to get Taylor's confidence going and get him as many shots as possible.

The rest is history.  Taylor shot the ball 108 times, and now will forever be remembered for his offensive outburst.

"It just felt like anything I was going to throw up was going in," Taylor said.

Grinnell has since been taken over by TV trucks and cameras.

The school has been the talk of the national sports scene.

"It's been crazy. I know that he's probably exhausted," Arseneault said.

"It's starting to set in today, I did some interviews last night and it didn't really feel real," Taylor said.

Taylor now atop the NCAA record books- something he couldn't have even dreamed up before Tuesday night.
