Man arrested after vehicle pursuit in Linn County

Cedar Rapids and Mount Vernon Police Officers were part of a vehicle pursuit Sunday morning.

It started just after 2:30 a.m. Sunday morning, when officers tried to stop a vehicle for speeding near 16th Avenue and 18th Street Southwest.

The driver took off, continuing through Linn County and into Mount Vernon.

Mount Vernon Police Officers then pursued and used stop sticks on the vehicle near 1st Street Southeast and Highway 30.

No one was injured in the pursuit, but a police car sustained damage when it got side-swiped by the suspect's car.

The driver of the vehicle was 27-year-old Koady McLaud.

He faces charges for eluding, driving while barred, hit and run and numerous other traffic offenses.
