Redshirt freshman Sam Richardson saw the first significant action of his career and flourished leading Iowa State to a 51-23 beat down of Kansas.  The win makes Iowa State bowl eligible with a 6-5 record.

Richardson completed 85% of his passes for 250 yards and 4 touchdowns. He also picked up another score on a one yard sneak.  The Cyclones 51 points were the most scored by the team this season.

Richardson, who hadn't thrown a pass in a college game, led Iowa State to touchdowns on 5 of his first 6 possessions after replacing Steele Jantz with the Cyclones trailing 14-10.

Iowa State's ground game also played a major role.  The Cyclones rushed for 241 yards in the game, led by 89 yards and one touchdown from Jeff Woody.
