CR Xavier falls short of 4A crown losing 23-17 to Ankeny

CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) -

2nd ranked Cedar Rapids Xavier falls just short of winning its second 4A State title since 2007 falling to top ranked Ankeny 23-17 in the championship game. The Saints got two touchdowns from Brendan Miller and led for much of the game, but the Hawks got a fourth quarter touchdown from Iowa State recruit Joel Lanning to pull out the win. Xavier finishes 13-1.
