West Branch bicyclist hit by pick-up truck

WEST BRANCH (KWWL) -

A West Branch man was injured on Thursday when the bike he was riding was hit from behind by a pick-up truck.

The Iowa State Patrol says 60-year-old Richard Allen Wagner was headed east on County Road F-44, on the east edge of West Branch, at around 4:52 p.m. Thursday when he was hit from behind by a pick-up driven by 34-year-old Thomas John Spielbauer of  West Liberty.

Troopers say Wagner was riding his bike on the outside white line and Spielbauer did not see him.

They say Wagner was not wearing a helmet and was taken to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
