Decorah wins first state football title in 23 years


Top ranked Decorah (14-0) goes wire to wire winning its first state title since 1989.. 49-21 over Sioux City Heelan (12-2).  The Vikings which was playing in its 3rd 3A championship game in five years jumped to a 21-0 lead on two touchdown runs by Josie Jewell and another by Holt Johansen.

Heelan pulled to within 21-14 at halftime but the Vikings scored three touchdowns in the third quarter to win going away.
