WATERLOO (KWWL) -

A Waterloo man was arrested during a traffic stop on Tuesday night after police say they found a gun in the car.

Officers with the Violent Crime Apprehension Team stopped a vehicle in the 100 block of East 11th Street around 11:04 p.m. Tuesday as part of an investigation.

Inside the car were 19-year-old Chaston Dewite Fox, 28-year-old Edger Yovani Sipac Batz and 24-year-old Ismael Sipac Batz, all of Waterloo and a loaded .38 caliber Smith and Wesson revolver.

Following an investigation, officers say Fox was in possession of the gun and tried to hide it under the front passenger seat during the traffic stop.

Fox is charged with carrying weapons.  He is also charged with fifth-degree theft from a separate incident at the Kwikstop at 1104 Washington Street from before the traffic stop.
