#1 Regina tops #2 DNH in 1A football semi-final

CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) -

Dike-New Hartford put up a battle, but Iowa City Regina outscored the Wolverines 21-0 over the final quarter for a 42-21 win and a spot in the class 1A state championship.

It wasn't easy however.  After Regina opened the game with touchdowns on their first 2 drives, Dike-New Hartford countered with 21 straight points.  The Wolverines Carson Parker scored on a 2 yard quarterback keeper for a 21-14 3rd quarter lead.

That's when Regina came alive.  Mark Ward and Alex Balke connected on a 40 yard touchdown play to tie the game at 21.  Then early in the 4th quarter, the Regals gambled on a 4th and 19 in DNH territory.  The gamble paid off and eventually led to a Ward rushing touchdown that put Regina ahead for good.

The undefeated Regals will meet 12-1 Council Bluffs-Saint Albert for the 1A championship.
