5A State Volleyball: City High rolls to the finals

Micaela Nelson knocked down 13 kills with six blocks to help propel Iowa City High to the Class 5A championship match with a 23-25, 25-16, 25-17, 25-19 victory over top-ranked Ankeny Friday afternoon.

The Little Hawks (31-8), Class 4A runners-up last year, will face Bettendorf in the 5A championship match at 10 a.m. Saturday .

The Little Hawks dominated at the net, recording 31 blocks to Ankeny's 13.  Aliyah Gustafson had 12 blocks while Nelson and Liz Hubing added six.  Abby Saehler and Hubing added 12 and 10 kills, respectively.

Jaali Winters led Ankeny with 15 kills. The Hawkettes end their year at 30-7.
