3A State Volleyball: Union makes the finals

CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

Sam Barz and Payton Hilton combined for 25 kills to lead Union into the Class 3A championship match with a three-set sweep over top-ranked and previously unbeaten Mediapolis.

The Knights will face MOC-Floyd Valley or Mount Vernon in the 3A championship match at 2:00 p.m. Saturday.

Barz recorded 13 kills and four aces to lead Union while Hilton added 12 kills and 16 digs. The Knight defense forced 14 errors and limited the Bullettes to a hitting percentage of .098.

Heidi Hillyard had eight kills to lead Mediapolis, who finishes the year at 43-1.
