MACOMB, Ill. (KWWL) -
David Johnson ran for 149 yards and one touchdown as UNI dominated Western Illinois 40-0.
UNI's rushing attack was stellar on Saturday. The Panthers rushed for 303 total yards.
The Panther passing attack was also effective when needed. Sawyer Kollmorgen completed 11 of 17 passes for 94 yards, 3 touchdowns, and one interception.
Following a safety caused by a bad punt snap, Kollmorgen would put UNI in to the end zone early with a rollout and 10 yard touchdown strike to Chad Owens. Five minutes later he would find Terrell Sinkfield on a short 2 yard strike as UNI would lead 16-0 after the first quarter.
Kollmorgen's their touchdown pass would come in the second as he would hit Sam Rohr on a 23 yard strike. The Panther defense rounded out the first half scoring as Garrett Scott picked off a tipped Western Illinois pass and returned it to the end zone from 20 yards out.
In the second half, Tyler Sievertsen connected on a 27 yard field goal, while David Johnson would cap the day scoring from 40 yards on a sweep around left end in the third quarter.
The win was UNI's 3rd of the year and their first away from the UNI-Dome.
