Cedar Rapids Xavier beats Cedar Rapids Prairie 28-7 to gain Semifinal

In Class 4A Cedar Rapids Prairie following its big upset of Iowa City West on Monday takes on third ranked Cedar Rapids Xavier.

After a scoreless first quarter the Hawks' Mitch Christensen takes the hand-off and runs right up the middle on the Saints vaunted "Defense" to give Prairie a surprising 7-0 lead.

Xavier responds on 1st and goal the Saints' Wes Gardner swept left and got into the endzone to tie the game at 7 a piece.

Right before the half, Xavier kicker Ryan Persick drilled a 47 yard field goal to give the Saints their first lead of the game, and Xavier led Prairie 10-7 at the half.

Early in the third Quarter, Saints get in scoring range again. Persick would hit a 40 yard field goal, and the Saints would extend their lead to 13-7.

In the 4th Quarter, Saints on 2nd and 12, QB Reggie Schulte called his own number, sweeps right and gets into the endzone for another touchdown. Saints got the 2 point conversion and led 21-7.

Saints goes on to win 28-7 to advance to play Cedar Falls in the 4A State Semifinal round game at the UNI-Dome next Friday.
