Iowa City police are looking for a man they say robbed two people at gunpoint Tuesday night.
Officers were called to Black's Gaslight Village in the 400 block of Brown Street Tuesday night at around 11:30 p.m. for a report of an armed person.
While en route, officers were told that two separate people called reporting that they had been robbed.
Victims say that the man approached them, pointed a gun at them and demanded their purses. One woman ran to a nearby residence and got away, the other gave the man her purse. Police say the man then ran east on Brown Street toward Van Buren Street.
The suspect is described as an African American man with a bandana over his face. He is between 5'10" and 6'0" tall and in his 20's or 30's. Police say he was also wearing a dark hoodie and dark pants.
A HawkAlert was issued to warn University of Iowa students and staff.
Iowa City police urge you to call them or Iowa City Crimestoppers with any information that can help them locate the suspect.
