Waukon gets rematch revenge with a 21-14 playoff win over Union

Waukon knocked off defending State Champion Union 21-14 Monday night in La Porte City to advance to the Class 2A Quarterfinals Friday night against Dyersville Beckman.

Beckman Beat New Hampton, 21-0.

Cole Ewing put Waukon up, 7-0, on a 57-yard touchdown run in the 1st quarter. Union scored with just 16 seconds left before half on a Trev Hadacheck to Will Crees touchdown pass. 7-7 at half.

Just 2-minutes into the second half, Jay Scheel got loose for the Knights on a touchdown run to put the Knights up, 14-7.

Waukon countered with a Josh Thorson to Parker Hesse screen pass to tie the game at 14.

Waukon got the game winner on a short touchdown run from Marcus Weymiller, as the Indians win, 21-14.
