Helping kids have a happy Halloween

A Cedar Rapids youth group is helping make Halloween happier for kids.

The Central Corridor Gamers started handing out costumes to families in need Sunday.

They'll also give them out Monday at Trinity United Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids (400 3rd Ave. SW) from 5:30 to 7:30.

Those interested need to pick up a voucher at the Matthew 25 Ministry Hub (225 K Ave. NW) or Waypoint in downtown Cedar Rapids (318 5th Street SE).

All costumes are free.

"Halloween is, we don't look at it like we do maybe Christmas or Thanksgiving so to be able to come and get assistance with that is really great for me and my family," said Lennette Harmon of Cedar Rapids.

Anyone who wants to donate a costume can drop one off at Halloween Bootique (4110 Center Point Rd. NE) in Cedar Rapids.

They'll continue to take them after Halloween to use for next year's event.
