CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) -

The Core Comic Shop hosted its first costume party and free comic day on Saturday.

The event brought hundreds of people decked out in their finest Halloween costumes to the business to compete against each other in the costume contest. Participants of all ages could compete in the contest in one of the three different age categories to win their share of the $500 worth of prizes.

The comic shop also hosted a book signing, face painting, and live music for those who attended. Free comics were available as well. Organizers have said with the success of this year's event, they are planning on making the party an annual event.
