Unusual voting locations in some Iowa counties

MARION (KWWL) -

Early voting is well underway in Iowa, and some counties, the ballot boxes are in some unusual places.

Many voters in Marion cast their ballots -- and then picked up a bag of popcorn at Collins Road Theaters. The Linn County Auditor is holding satellite locations in places which people tend to frequent on the weekends. Those we talked with appreciate the opportunity to do their civic duty at a more convenient time and place.

"I work in Iowa City, and sometimes it's hard to get back in time. So this is a great opportunity to do it on a Saturday morning and get it taken care of," said early voter Lizabeth Wardzinsti.

Other unique early voting sites include malls in Cedar Rapids, Waterloo, and Cedar Falls.

The ballots cast at the satellite locations are treated as absentee. They will remained sealed until Election Day.
