
Second ranked Wapsie Valley played host to 6-3 Iowa Valley to open the Class A state playoffs.
The Warriors special teams would get the scoring started. Ryan Miller took a punt back 66 yards for a TD and a 7-0 lead. Mitch Boevers connected with Kenny Saulsberry for a 78 yard TD to give Wapsie Valley a 14-0 lead.
But the Tigers fought back. Logan Loftus found Cullen Yardley for a 25 yard TD to cut the lead to 14-6. After the Warriors used a fake punt to get a first down, Tyler Odneal finds pay dirt for a 21-6 lead.
Iowa Valley came right back on their next possession. Loftus hooking up with Marshall Young for a 64 yard TD to trim the lead to 21-12. But the Warriors wouldn't let up. Mitch Boevers found Adam Bachman in the end zone for a 28-12 lead at the end of the first quarter. In the 2nd, Tyler Odneal dials up long distance and finds the end zone for a 70 yard TD run. Odneal would get a 3rd touchdown from 24 yards to put Wapsie Valley up 42-12. Ethan Kleitsch would add the final score of the half as the Warriors took a 48-12 lead.
Wapsie Valley moves on with an easy win…69-24.
