Long lightning delay in Cascade-New Hampton first round game

NEW HAMPTON (KWWL) -

Fans in New Hampton had to endure multiple delays for lightning in the 1st round playoff game between the homestanding Chickasaws and visiting Cascade.

Early on, Cascade capitalized on a couple of big plays to take a 9-0 lead including a safety and a 56-yard scoring strike from Tommie Kleitsch to Nathan Bergfeld.

But the Chickasaws would storm back, thanks to a scoring strike from Noah Stochl to Wyatt Rosonke.

Another score was set up on a long pass between the two Chickasaw stars.

As the clock expired for halftime, Stochl ran it in from the one to put the Chickasaws up 21-9.

That's when thunderstorms moved in, causing a lightning delay for nearly 3 hours.

The delays continued throughout the night and the game ended at 1:07 a.m. with New Hampton prevailing, 35-22.
