In 1A, 6th ranked Aplington-Parkersburg played host to defending state champion St. Ansgar.
Last year, Aplington-Parkersburg beat St. Ansgar during the regular season, but the Saints avenged the loss in the 2011 playoffs on their way to the 1A state championship.
On Wednesday night the Falcons were seeking revenge and also looking to bounce back from that double overtime loss to Dike-New Hartford last weekend.
The Falcons would get on the board early. The drive was capped off with a 12 yard run by quarterback Kollin Cuvelier. With the extra point A-P would go up seven to nothing.
The Saints would strike right back as quarterback Sawyer Dalluge would keep the ball and take it fifty plus yards to the big house. With the extra point the Saints tied things up seven all.
Falcons would answer back with a lengthy drive, which ended with a nine yard run by Brady Frey.
A-P would go up 14 to seven.
The Falcons defense would contain the Saints running game and hold their drive.
On offense Frey would score another six points on a one yard dive. The Falcons go up 21 and the Saints stay at seven.
With three minutes before the half the Falcons would put one more score on the board. Lane Hovenga would take it down the far sideline and find the end zone. A-P would go into the locker room at halftime 28 to seven.
The Falcons would continue to pile it on the Saints in the second half as they go on to find redemption with a 50 to 21 win.
