WATERLOO (KWWL) -

Waterloo police have made an arrest in an early morning shooting.

Officers were called to the 400 block of Lane Street at around 2:30 a.m. Friday.  When they arrived, officers found evidence of a shooting.

A short time later, 29-year-old Shauntez Dewand Coffer arrived at Allen Hospital with two gunshot wounds to his upper chest area.

During a traffic stop at Ansborough Avenue and Downing Avenue, officers say they found a .25 caliber handgun and crack cocaine in the vehicle driven by 30-year-old Amos Dee Deering of Waterloo.  They say Deering is the suspect in the shooting of Coffer.

Deering is charged with intimidation with a dangerous weapon, willful injury, felon in possession of a firearm, possession with intent to deliver crack cocaine, operating while intoxicated and driving while license suspended.

Deering was booked into the Black Hawk County Jail.
