Costume swap looks to save families money this Halloween

CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

It's scary how quickly the cost of Halloween costumes can add up.  That's why one organization is working to save families money.

Macaroni Kids in Cedar Rapids partnered with the Cedar Rapids Public Library for the second annual costume swap.

More than 85 families exchanged gently used costumes for one in return.

The event featured fun for all ages- and most importantly- something to be excited about come October 31st.

"Costumes are usually between ten and 40 dollars so this way families can save a little money for a costume that they wear just for a day," said Charlotte Linde with Macaroni Kids.

All leftover costumes were donated to the non-profit Costumes for Kids, which distributes Halloween-wear to less fortunate families in the Cedar Rapids area.
