Waterloo West band performs in local neighborhood

WATERLOO (KWWL) -

People in one Waterloo neighborhood had a marching band perform right outside their front doors.

The Waterloo West High School Band marched from their school grounds to a home on Terrace Drive.

The event was part of a fundraiser raffle where the winner got to choose a place for the band to perform. The winner chose right in front of his house, and the timing turned out great for the circumstances.

"My father passed away last week and we're having a get together for that with all the family in town and it was really special for the band to come and play for us on that occasion," said Chris Meyers.

The band followed the performance with a trip to Ames for their last competition of the year at the Iowa High School Music Association band festival.
