Our game of the week is one we have marked on the
calendar for a while now: sixth ranked New Hampton and seventh ranked Union.
The Chickasaws enter the night unbeaten. Meanwhile, Union, which won the 3-A title last year, are on a six
game winning streak.
Union could clinch the district's number spot with a win. New Hampton would need a win and a good showing next week against Waukon
thanks to their win.
Both teams came in fired up with a lot on the line,
but the Chickasaws couldn't stop perpetual highlight machine Jay Scheel.
On the opening drive, Scheel hurdles the defender,
and then finishes the run, 27 yards. Unbelievable play! 7-0 Knights.
Moments later after a botched punt. Scheel rolls in
from 5. Union would lead 14, nothing after the
first quarter.
And it would be 21, nothing after this. Just the 3rd
time that Jay Scheel would run the ball, and it's his third touchdown. This
play goes 83 yards. Union was running away, and
Scheel would show off the skills with his arm as well, hitting Will Crees on a
one play, 43 yard drive. Union would score 4
unanswered before New Hampton finally got on the board.
Austin Lukes goes 2 yards to pull the Chickasaws
within 22, but Union found the endzone one
last time before half.
Scheel to Trev Hadachek, the Knights led 34, 6 at the
halftime break.
Early in the second half, lightning was spotted in
the area sending this game in to a delay, but they did get it going again.
Union won 48 to 6.
