CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) -
The Cedar Falls Tigers and Cedar Rapids-Xavier Saints came into Friday night unbeaten on the 2012 season, though Cedar Falls holds a big edge on the Saints, coming in with an 11-and-1 all time record over Xavier.
Both defenses played tough through the first quarter, and the game remained scoreless going into the second frame.
Early in the second, class 4A's most accurate quarterback, Reggie Shulte delivered a strike to Grimm Bryce to give Xavier a 7-0 lead.
The Tigers answered later in the second when Cedar Falls running back Jake Buck broke away from the defense, and made it down to the 5-yard line. Just two plays later, Braden Longnecker rolled out with a bootleg to deliver the game-tying touchdown
Late in the first half, Schulte threw up a prayer to Corbin Woods, which Woods was able to haul in to give the Saints a 14-7 lead at the break.
The second half was mostly dominated by the defenses, but Xavier held on for a 24-7 win to stay unbeaten on the season.
