Wapsie Valley used a strong 2nd half to shut down district rival Starmont 35-12 Friday night. Wapsie RB Tyler Odneal scored 2 first quarter TDs to lead the Warriors to a 14-6 lead. Two successive trick plays kept a late 2nd quarter Starmont drive alive. Stars TB Jake Butler got the pitch on a hook-and-ladder play then threw for a TD on the option pass to bring Starmont to within 14-12. After the halftime break, Wapsie's defense kept Starmont off the scoreboard while the Warrior offense scored 21 points. Wapsie Valley's overall record is now 8-0 while Starmont falls to 6-2 overall.
