WATERLOO (KWWL) -
Halloween is just days away and many eastern Iowans are getting into the spooky spirit. The Heart of Darkness is an Eastern Iowa favorite. Organizers say it's the largest haunted complex in Iowa with more than 22, 600 square feet.
It is located just outside of Waterloo and takes about 35 minutes to get through the whole attraction.
After eleven years, organizers say they get a mix of emotions when they exit the attraction.
"It's pretty much awesome, great job, we loved it. You know some people have advice and that's what we need to have and they are like well can you make sure the zombies eat my face off more often and I'm like well out actors are not allowed to touch you, but they can get really close," said Kevin Schultz, owner.
The Heart of Darkness is open every Thursday through Saturday through Halloween.
