Waterloo man sentenced to more than five years in prison


A Waterloo man was sentenced to more than five years in prison on Thursday after pleading guilty to conspiracy to distribute crack cocaine.

Rico Dixon, 29, was sentenced in U.S. District Court in Cedar Rapids to five years and 10-months in federal prison.

According to court officials, Dixon pleaded guilty on July 12 after admitting to distributing crack cocaine in and around Waterloo from 2010 to 2012.  He also admitted to possessing a gun while distributing the drugs.

Dixon will spend four years on supervised release after his prison term.
