Looking inside new Cedar Rapids Downtown Library

CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

Cedar Rapids is continuing to recover from the 2008 flood.  For the first time we're getting a look inside the new downtown library.

The state of the art building will have a large children's area, a multimedia teen area, meeting rooms, a 200 seat auditorium, and Wi-Fi that will extend beyond the building to Greene Square Park.

Library officials are calling it an "experience library."

"The community gets a game changer in terms of libraries and what libraries can do is strengthen the community as a whole," said Bob Pasicznyuk, Director.  "Strong communities are linked with strong libraries."

Construction workers hope to have the building fully enclosed by Thanksgiving.

That way winter weather will not slow down construction and the new library can open next summer as planned.
