The University of Northern Iowa Presidential Search and Screen Committee met on campus to discuss the job description of the president and timeline for finding qualified candidates.
The 21 members of the committee are made up of professors, administration, regents, alumni, committee members and students. Each committee member spoke about the future of the university, specifically the direction they would like the next president to take the university.
Committee members were also asked to share some of the challenges the president will face, including this years decline of enrollment.
Laurie Wilder, an employee for the hiring agency spoke about the importance of finding a diverse set of candidates and that the search needs to be very aggressive.
Once the search committee finds their top choices, the final decision moves on to the Board of Regents. The committee is set to meet January 7th, 2013 to pick top candidates for the position.
