Heartland Acres in Independence hosts first Family Fishing Day

Heartland Acres in Independence hosted it's first Family Fishing Day on Sunday at Swan Lake. About 50 people came out to fish the lake which was included in admission to the facility.

The stocked lake include bass, blue gill, crappie and catfish. Fishers were allowed to keep any blue gill or crappie that were caught and Heartland Acres even hosted a fish frying station later in the day for the catches.

Organizers have said with the good turnout, Heartland Acres would consider hosting another day in the spring. A valid Iowa fishing license is required to fish on the lake.
